Pasil imposes mobility restrictions on unvax individuals to curb infections

Updated: Jan 26, 2022

Pasil, Kalinga – To break the surge of the COVID-19 infections, the local government unit of Pasil under the leadership of Mayor Alfredo “Chao-ig” Malannag Jr. imposed restrictions on unvaccinated individuals starting today, January 25, 2022, until further notice.

Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Helen E. Lacuesta, in a local radio program, explained the restriction was adopted from the Memorandum Circular 2022-002 of the Department of the Interior and Local Government issued following the President’s order for all Punong Barangays to restrain unvaccinated people from leaving their residence.

Pasil LGU, in partnership with national agencies such as Philippine National Police and DILG, joined forces for the implementation and monitoring of the limitation of movement among unvaccinated people, especially with the escalation of the alert level of the province.

The local government encouraged those unvaccinated to receive their dose as this will not only protect themselves but also their families and the community whom they are interacting with against the dreaded virus.

“Nagaget met ti health personnel tayo a mangidanun pay kadagiay bakuna kadagiti ba-barangay tayo ket agpabakuna kayun apo,” Lacuesta stated.

Meanwhile in an interview, Barangay Captain of Balinciagao Norte Morizon Gonnay said they are closely monitoring the checkpoint established in Cagaluan to ensure that unvaccinated inbound and outbound travelers will not be allowed. This, he added, is to protect the community.

The travel restriction is a result of studies revealing that unvaccinated individuals are more likely to be infected with the virus than the vaccinated.

Municipal Health Officer Dr. Aldrin Siwao shares the same sentiment, adding that the Rural Health Unit is open from Mondays to Fridays for those interested in getting vaccinated.

According to the latest COVID-19 update of the Provincial Health Office, the municipality has so far fully vaccinated 68.76 percent or 4,835 of its 70 percent target population or 7, 032 as of January 17, 2022.
