Pasil lauded for regular blood donation drive

Pasil, Kalinga - Provincial Governor Ferdinand B. Tubban, in celebration of the Blood Donation’s Month this July, commended the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pasil for being the “only LGU regularly conducting blood donation along with Balbalan.”

The Provincial Health Office confirmed this during the radio program of the Office of the Governor as they informed that Pasil had been continuously doing bloodletting activities resulting in their sufficient stock of blood.

In an interview with Medical Technologist Marlyne Gammong, she explained that their team is conducting blood donation in the various barangays of Pasil every quarter.

She said that following the bloodletting activity in Barangay Dangtalan on June 27, 2021, is another bloodletting in Barangay Galdang held on July 5, 2021. The team is currently conducting the same activity this July 15 in Barangay Bagtayan.

In each of the bloodletting activities, more than 40 bags of blood were collected from volunteer donors.

The team’s initiative aims to help replenish the blood reserves for medical emergencies and ensure accessibility for those who are in need of safe blood and blood products.

“Regular kami nga ag-conduct ti blood donation tapno makatulong ti agkailangan ken tapnu haan marigatan ti bantay ti pasyente nga agbirok nu adda emergency,” Gammong said.

Gammong is thankful for the participation of the community and likewise encouraged others to donate the priceless gift of blood to save lives.

Pasil was one of the top municipalities contributing 1.29% rate for the province-wide blood donation for the year 2020. The rate surpassed their goal of collecting blood from 1% of the population.
