Pasil launches Feeding Program in 4 villages to safeguard children's health

Pasil, Kalinga – Around 431 children with ages 6 months to 12 years old were the recent beneficiary of a feeding program in this town, launched from August 31 to September 3 at the villages of Ableg, Balinciagao Sur, Dalupa, and Pugong.


The “mana packs” were given to 127 children in Pugong, 121 in Ableg, 97 in Dalupa, and 86 in Balinciagao Sur. Same activity will be launched soon in Barangay Cagaluan.


The project which is part of the LGUs program to augment basic services in terms of education, health, and nutrition will be providing the children daily feeding from Mondays to Fridays.


This was made possible through the Zero Extreme Poverty (ZEP) Program for Indigenous People (PIP), implemented in partnership with Assisi Development Foundation (ADF) and Apostolic Vicariate of Tabuk (AVT).

Mayor Alfredo Malannag Jr., during the launching program in Dalupa, lauded their partners from the private sector for choosing the children of Pasil as a beneficiary of their project. He said that the community, especially the parents, will be actively participating to successfully implement the program, and expressed hope that, with such partnership, more assistance will be given to Pasil.


According to Marilyn Pagutayao of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the feeding program is part of the Local Chief Executive’s program implemented through a technical team consisting of personnel from the Municipal Health Office, MDRRMO, and the Municipal Agriculture Office.

Aside from improving the education, health, and nutrition, the program likewise aims to develop disaster resiliency, sustainable agriculture and livelihood programs for to benefit children.


Social preparation was also undertaken to ensure the sustainability of the program done in coordination with the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Barangay Officials and staff, Department of Education, and MLGU.
