Pasil LGU joins DILG’s simultaneous tree planting activity nationwide

Pasil, Kalinga – The municipal government of Pasil headed by Mayor Alfredo “Chao-ig” Malannag Jr. joined the nationwide simultaneous tree planting activity dubbed as “Buhayin ang Pangangalaga ng Kalikasan” at the patrol base in Cagaluan this Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

The said activity, according to Municipal Planning and Development Officer Vicente Bucalen, is a tripartite partnership led by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and participating local government units.

The event is part of the implementation of DENR’s Enhanced National Greening Program (ENGP), the country's most ambitious reforestation project that aims to rehabilitate denuded forestlands, as well as maintain and protect existing forests

In an interview, Bucalen said Pasil LGU along with its stakeholders planted a total of 176 trees from 6:15 to 9:30 this morning. A hundred of which are Paper trees, 30 are Cashew trees, 15 are Rambutan trees, 10 are Mahogany trees, 10 are Star Apple trees, 8 are Calamansi trees, and 3 are Mango trees.

Accordingly, the seedlings were provided by DENR as per the national government’s instruction. The local government, meanwhile, was tasked with identifying strategic locations to plant the trees.

All local departments, Bucalen said, are well-represented. Joining them in planting trees are the personnel of the Municipal Police Station, Municipal Health Office, 2nd Kalinga Police Mobile Force Company, Bureau of Fire Protection-Pasil, DENR, DILG represented by Municipal Local Government Operations Office, officials of barangays Ableg and Bagtayan, Philippine army, Department of Education, and Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit.
