Pasil LGU Nutrition Month 2022 celebration highlights slow food promotion

Pasil LGU Pasil, Kalinga – In a bid to raise awareness on proper nutrition amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the local government of Pasil launched on Tuesday, July 12, its month-long Nutrition Month 2022 celebration along with its famous slow food promotion.

The municipality’s slow food brought honor to the town after it was recognized internationally.

For Pasil, the slow food movement not only makes the people healthy but also protects the environment.

Slow food is defined as the dishes whether eaten fresh or cooked that are chemical-free.

Part of the kick-off activity, relayed the member of Municipal Nutrition Council Segundina Gumabay, was the display of various vegetables and fruits, singing of the LGU’s Nutrition song and photo documentations.

Leading the said activity was Mayor Alfredo “Chao-ig” Malannag Jr., joined by Vice-Mayor Venancio Magangat, Sangguniang Bayan Chairperson on Health and Nutrition, Municipal Health Officer Aldrin Siwao, and Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Focal Person.

Also participating in the event were the Federation Presidents of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), personnel of Philippine National Police (PNP), and representatives of the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

Malannag, through his social media page, underscored that nutrition interventions must be part of the pandemic resilience strategies.

The nutrition month, added the mayor, is a chance for the Slow Food of Pasil to likewise be promoted.

The Municipal Health Office prepared various activities for this year’s celebration.

Among these include the creative video-making contest, poem composition, poster-making contest, Best Gulayan sa Bakuran, contemporary dance, search for Healthy Pandemic Baby, Nutri-Bibo Kid, Breastfeeding photo contest, and I-flex si Healthy Buntis Photo Contest.

All entries in the activities should be associated with the theme, “New Normal na Nutrisyon, Sama-samang Gawan ng Solusyon.”

Submission of entries will end on Tuesday next week, July 19.
