Pasil, Kalinga – The Election Registration Board (ERB) of Commission on Elections in Pasil, Kalinga has listed a total of 7,305 voters for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections 2022.

The figure is slightly higher than the 7,212 voters in May 09, 2019 local polls, informed Election Officer Abe Baawa.

Number of SK voters

Some 2,852 of the total are SK voters or those who are at least 15 years old on or before December 5, but not more than 30 years old.

Number of voters per barangay

Barangay Balatoc has the highest voters with 1,173 followed by Cagaluan with 958, Guina-ang Poblacion with 615, Balinciagao Norte with 560, Pugong with 541, Magsilay with 505, and Ableg with 437.

Meanwhile, 415 individuals will vote in Dangtalan, 402 in Colayo, 376 in Balinciagao Sur, 374 in Malucsad, 349 in Dalupa, 301 in Bagtayan, and 298 in Galdang.

More male voters than female

For the upcoming elections, 3,358 females are expected to take part. The other 3,947 voters are males.

Observing that the polls were dominated by men, Baawa encouraged the women sector to let their voice be heard by taking active participation during elections.

204 registered voters removed from official list

During the August 01 ERB hearing in the municipality, a total of 204 voters were deleted from the official list. Eight of which were detected by the automated fingerprint identification system as “flying voters” or individuals having double or multiple registration.

Eighty (80) further voters were removed due to their transfer to another city or municipality, while the removal of 166 others was caused by their death.

Barangay, SK elections update

As of August 04, 2022, 29 house bills were filed in the 19th Congress for the postponement of the barangay and SK elections slated for December 05, 2022 to supposedly allow the electorate to heal after the conduct of the May 2022 polls and other arguments.

The Committee on Electoral Reforms, however, did not release any decision yet whether the elections will be postponed or push through.

The last Barangay and SK elections in the country were conducted on May 14, 2018.
