Pasil, Kalinga – After passing the standards set under the Universal Health Care (UHC) Act, the Rural Health Unit of Pasil in Guina-ang was recognized by the Department of Health (DOH) as a primary care facility, according to Pasil Municipal Health Office through an announcement made on Tuesday, August 23.

Under Republic Act No. 11223 or UHC Act, DOH grants licenses for stand-alone facilities that provide the community they serve with initial contact, accessible, continuous, comprehensive, and coordinated primary care services.

The Primary Care Facility regulation is part of the UHC Act’s goal to ensure that only safe and quality primary care services are being delivered to all Filipinos.

The issued license to operate as a primary care facility was awarded by the regional DOH to Mayor Alfredo “Chao-ig” Malannag Jr., MHO, Dr. Aldrin Siwao, and other RHU staff on said day.

Pasil RHU will operate as PCF until December 31, 2024, as granted by the national health department.

It can be recalled that Pasil RHU was the first healthcare entity in the Province of Kalinga to obtain accreditation as Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama Package (KonSulTa) facility from Philippine Health Insurance Corporation.

As PhilHealth – KonSulTa provider, the health unit is likewise expected to administer comprehensive primary care benefit such as consultation and case management, provision of preventive health services, referral to specialty and higher levels of care and assisting eligible beneficiaries in accessing services.

These are proof of the improvement of health services in said unit.
