Woman from Pasil, Kalinga is 2nd Most Outstanding Rural Woman in CAR

Pasil, Kalinga - The second Most Outstanding Rural Women in Cordillera hails from the town of Pasil in Kalinga.


The Search for the Outstanding Rural Women, according to the Department of Agriculture - Cordillera, is an annual event of the agriculture department that recognizes rural women who have made excellent achievements in agri-fishery development and who have made impacts in their communities. Also, it documents the success stories of empowered Filipina farmers and fisherfolk as role models.

The search was made open to all rural women in areas with high poverty incidence, particularly those in the 4th-6th class municipalities, and is engaged in any agriculture and fishery-based activities.


Aspirants were rated based on the criteria which include contribution to food security/agricultural and fishery development (30%), contribution to sustainable development (30%), and impact on rural development (40%).


During the regional awarding held Tuesday, Nov. 29 at the DA - Cordillera’s conference hall in Guisad, Baguio City, Jolenda Lomas-e from Barlig, Mt. Province was proclaimed the 2022 Regional Outstanding Rural Woman, receiving a P50,000 cash prize.

Meanwhile, Cameron Bakidan of Pasil was awarded a recognition certificate and cash incentive of P30,000 as the second regional winner.


Rosalinda Nabus from Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet, and Sharon Bitso from Poblacion, Tuba, Benguet were likewise recognized for their contribution to agri-fishery development.


As the winner, Lomas-e will represent the region in the national-level search slated for December of the same year in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.
