PDEA – CAR cautions public over entry of vape infused with illicit drug-flavors in the country

Baguio City, Philippines – With the increasing availability of vape flavors that contain illicit drugs in the country, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Cordillera cautions the public to be wary when purchasing said product.

During the third quarter meeting of the Baguio City Anti-Drug Abuse Council on July 12, 2024, PDEA- CAR Regional Director Laurefel Gabales revealed that the recent anti-narcotics operations in the National Capital Region and Puerto Galera led to the discovery of electronic cigarettes or vapes whose flavors were infused with marijuana oil and liquid shabu.

As cited by the Baguio City Information Office, Gabales disclosed that these illegal vape flavors mostly enter the country through mail or parcels and some were brought in by tourists.

With this, Gabales wants the public to be cautious when buying vape flavors, especially since marijuana plants thrive locally.

On their part, the PDEA will be conducting anti-narcotics operations across the region to catch cannabis oil producers, suppliers, and traders in the region.

Meantime, the CADAC-Baguio will be working with the Department of Trade and Industry to monitor online commerce where vapes are usually sold.
