PhilMech turns over P3.6M farm machineries to Kalinga PLGU


Tabuk City, Kalinga – Two units of combined harvester and reaper with complete accessories including farm tools amounting to P3, 600,000 were turned over on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, to the Kalinga Provincial Local Government.


Provincial Agriculturist Domingo Bakilan said that the machineries, from the Philippine Center for Postharvest and Mechanization (PhilMech) Development, are part of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) development projects.


Further, the Office of the Provincial Agricultural Services (OPAS) will manage the utilization and operation of said farming equipment.

According to Bakilan, farmers will be given discounted rental fee when hiring the machineries. Rental fees will be decided by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.


During the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement with DA-PhilMech, Governor Ferdinand Tubban affirmed his support to the program and assured that the provincial government will take charge of the equipment maintenance and operation.


Tubban also expressed gratitude to the agency for constantly giving priority to Kalinga and for always granting the requests of the provincial government to support the needs of their constituents, especially the farmers.

The governor likewise lauded the services and efforts of the OPAS for preparing the necessary requirements to acquire the machineries. This, according to the governor, led to said significant accomplishment, which is expected to benefit a large number of yKalinga rice farmers.


Also, PIO- Kalinga reported that two units four-wheel tractor, which will be used to transport the machineries to and from the rice fields, will be delivered soon. Adding that PhilMech on March 24, 2021 turned over one unit Combined Harvester to San Francisco Pumiyaan Consumers Cooperative in San Francisco, Rizal.
