Piat Mayor offers 100,000 to capture killer of barangay captain

Piat, Cagayan – Not only the police but also the local government unit of Piat wish to give immediate justice on the killing of the multi-awarded barangay captain of Sto. Domingo, Piat – Richard Biraquit.

Piat Mayor Nel Guzman is ready to give P100,000 to an individual who could provide information on the whereabouts of the barangay captain’s triggerman.

A cartographic sketch of the suspect’s face is already available.

A local media posted on Sunday, January 29, the sketch grabbed from the Facebook post of former mayor, Atty. Carmelo “Black” Villacete.

As recalled, an in-depth investigation and a hot pursuit operation were pursued by Cagayan police after Beraquit was shot dead on the evening of Monday, January 23.

The victim and his wife came from their farm at Sitio Malasat, Sto. Domingo when the firing incident happened.

As the victim was driving home, the suspect suddenly appeared and shot them near an irrigation in the area.

The suspect did not end there as he also went to the driver's side and shot the victim twice.

To escape death, the wife pretended to be dead and only moved when the gunman fled using a motorcycle, heading in an unknown direction.

The incident was reported by a concerned citizen to authorities but when they responded, the wife already ferried his husband to a nearby hospital.

Unfortunately, Biraquit was declared dead on arrival at the health facility.

Recovered at the crime scene were 7 bullets from a caliber 45 pistol.
