Pilot of aircraft that went missing in Isabela found dead, passenger appears to have survived

Isabela, Philippines – The pilot of the Piper plane that went missing in Isabela was found lifeless, while the passenger appears to have survived.

The Piper PA-32-300 of Fliteline Airways disappeared on November 30 after departing from Cauayan Airport at 9:39 a.m. It was supposed to land at Palanan Airport at 10:23 a.m. on the same day.

On Tuesday, the six-seater aircraft was located in the vicinity of Barangay Casala, San Mariano, Isabela.

At around 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 06, rescuers who were dispatched to the crash site found the pilot, Captain Levy N. Abul II, dead. The rescue team intends to ferry the pilot’s remains to a helicopter landing area for transportation to Cauayan City, should the weather conditions allow, said the Spokesperson for the incident monitoring team, Joshua Hapinat.

Meanwhile, the lone passenger was not found in the vicinity, and “she appears to have survived the crash as indicated by a makeshift shelter that she presumably put up near the wreckage.”

K-9 trackers will be taken to the crash site to assist in finding the passenger.
