‘Pinya - symbol of hospitality and good luck, that’s the character of Pudtol’ -Mayor Pascua

Pudtol, Apayao- Mayor Hector Reuel D. Pascua underlined the importance of the Pinya Festival and the Giant Pinya as a symbol of the town’s hospitality and good luck.

 

Pascua, during his message to the people on the opening day of the festivities on June 27, enumerated several examples of the town’s work, local produce, and achievements embodying the characteristics he pointed out, adding “I have invited some guests from various places in the Philippines to let them experience our distinct and unique way of celebration, and at the same time showcasing our tasty pineapple.’’

 

The mayor also mentioned how the Pudtol pineapples are marketed to other provinces like Cagayan and Ilocos, saying some vendors take pride in selling their pineapples and crediting its origin from the municipality.

 

Additionally, Pascua reminded the residents to take pride in the fact that Pudtol has Philippine Eagles, vast forest areas and clean rivers, “we do not only take pride in our scrumptious pineapple product but we are also known for our clean rivers, the presence of Philippine Eagle, pristine water, vast of forest areas, and the kind of protection that we are still living.’’

 

As a sports fan, Mayor Pascua earlier invited athletes and players from various provinces to join the celebration through the Mayor’s Cup where visitors can enjoy the games as well as the foods and local delicacies in town.  

 

Vice Mayor Randy Laoat, meanwhile, said it is through unity, cooperation, and helping one another that made the town reached another significant and historic milestone.

 

Vice Governor Remy Albano, during his talk, conveyed that this year’s theme, ‘’Harvesting gains: Cultivating Productivity to Sustain Growth with yPudtol Pride”, demonstrates the concerted effort exemplified by the officials and its constituents contributing to the success of the town’s fiesta.

 

Albano likewise expressed admiration for the sweetness of the Pineapple and its compatibility with the land, making it a distinctive identity for the municipality.

 

This year’s 9th Pinya Festival features a giant Pinya with over 26 meters high and composed of 2, 158 pieces of pineapples.
