PNP, gov’t troops seize NPA firearms in Lasam, Cagayan

Lasam, Cagayan – Government soldiers and police officers recovered an arms cache and various subversive documents in Lasam and Allacapan over the weekend.

An informant who came across the area serving as storage of guns and ammunitions tipped authorities regarding what he saw, urging authorities to immediately proceed in Cabatacan West, Lasam, Cagayan.

Said area is located near the barangays of Kapalutan, Matucay and Utan in Allacapan town. Police revealed the area is also near the forest of Cabatacan which serves as a den for the leftist group, particularly the New People’s Army.

Found were 1 unit of M-16 armalite rifle and gauge, 12 shotguns, 15 improvised blasting caps, two units of two-way radios, battery charger, flashlight, medical kits, a magazine of M-16, two hand guard of M-16, ammunition, and anti-government materials.

The recovered materials are now under the custody of Lasam Police Station for appropriate disposition.
