PNP notes increase in motorcycle carnapping last week


Tabuk City, Kalinga – Carnapping of motorcycles increased in the Cordillera from April 9 to 15, 2021 compared to previous week, the Philippine National Police reports.


During a press conference held at Camp Crame on April 19, the police report that there were 27 stolen motorcycles last week in the country which is higher compared to the 24 incidents from April 2 to 8.


In their presentation, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Region 10, and the National Capital Region were said to have recorded increase of carnapping incidents.

Also mentioned was an increase of 3 incidents in the region.


Moreover, among the index crimes or the 8 focus crimes; robbery, carnapping of motor vehicle, and carnapping of motorcycles have also risen around the country from April 9 to 15 compared to the previous week.



As for the rest of the index crimes which include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, and theft, all had declined from April 9 to 15.


Meantime, in Tabuk City, it could be recalled that last Sunday, April 18, the motorcycle of Dagupan Centro Punong Barangay George Esteras was stolen by 2 individuals who parked beside his motorcycle while pretending to be on the phone.
