2 women identified as possible killers of trike driver in Isabela

Cordon, Isabela – With the relentless efforts of Cordon police in giving a resolution on the killing of a tricycle driver last July, two women were now identified as suspects in the heinous crime.

Although identities were not yet disclosed, Cordon police revealed in an interview by XFM Santiago that the two suspects were the two women who hired the victim's tricycle in Santiago, going to Cordon.

As recalled, Roberto Dela Cruz, a 55-year-old tricycle driver, was found dead with multiple stab wounds early morning of July 17 in Barangay Osmeña, Cordon, Isabela after he drove two women to Cordon, 4 AM on said date.

His tricycle was likewise stolen on the same day but was found two days later.

The CCTV footage gathered by police from various establishments aided them in the identification of the two women.

A case was filed in court against the two suspects but authorities said they are still gathering additional evidence.

The Cordon Chief of Police, PMaj. Fernando Mallillin, told media that the gathered CCTV footages are not enough to prove the crime made and the case might be dismissed, thus the need for them to collect more pieces of evidence.

Further police investigation is then ongoing, where they are examining all possible angles, particularly the places the suspects passed before the crime happened, their addresses, and what their jobs are.

Mallillin further revealed that they are looking for a possibility that a group is involved in the crime, thus collaborating with Santiago Police for the conduct of an in-depth investigation.
