Police official killed by yet unknown assailants in Abulug, Cagayan

Cagayan, Philippines — A police official in Cagayan died after his car was riddled with bullets Monday evening, November 7, in Abulug, Cagayan.

The victim was identified as Police Major Rafael Tangonan, a resident of Ballesteros, Cagayan.

The shooting transpired around 8:00 in the evening in front of a hardware and construction supply in Barangay Libertad of the said town, Cagayan Provincial Information Office reported.

Tangonan was found lifeless inside his car, a Toyota Hilux, when the police responded to the crime scene after getting informed of a shooting incident in the area. The car was found riddled with bullets.

The victim was identified based on his uniform.

Initial information from some of the witnesses points to a color brown Toyota Innova believed to be the vehicle used by the still unidentified perpetrators.

The Cagayan Police Provincial Information Office said authorities are investigating the incident.
