Popular fast food chain soon to be erected in Kalinga

Updated: Aug 19, 2023

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A popular fast-food chain will soon have a branch in Kalinga, with the groundbreaking ceremony for its erection held on Tuesday, August 15.

The erection of the McDonald's restaurant will not only satisfy fast food lovers but will also benefit the whole of Kalinga, as it will be paying a lease of P200,000 monthly to the provincial government for 15 years once its operation starts, subject to renewal.

The payment of the lease is based on the memorandum of agreement forged between local officials and the fast food chain management, as the restaurant will be built on a government-owned lot in Bulanao, Tabuk City.

It will be situated beside the Kalinga Children's Ward and Wellness Center, according to a press release by the provincial government.

"The lease is of big help in the added revenue of the province that may be further used to fund subsidized programs and projects beneficial to the Kalinga people aside from generating jobs and providing a livelihood," the provincial government wrote.

Meanwhile, it was disclosed that the actual construction will start once the necessary permits are obtained.

As planned, it would be a spacious building with a floor plan estimated at 1500–1600 square meters.

Relative to said development, the provincial government emphasized the establishment of a public-private partnership through the project that is anchored under the current administration’s tagline, ‘Lumin-awa Kalinga’.
