PSA-Kalinga to begin its population census; 200 enumerators deployed

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Kalinga deployed 200 enumerators on Monday, July 15 to kick start the 2024 Census of Population (POPCEN) and Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Household Data Collection and Geotagging.

PSA-Kalinga had their motorcade parade on said day marking the beginning of the house-to-house data collection in the seven localities in Kalinga.

PSA Kalinga, in a press release, explained that the census is a comprehensive process where the agency will have to collect, compile, evaluate, apply, publish and disseminate the data on population in the country. Such process will ensure that there would be a complete population inventory in the country.

As for the CBMS, it is a technology-driven tool used in assessing poverty at the local level.

The data collected using said system will be utilized in the formulation and implementation of programs and policies aimed at poverty alleviation and economic development.

The data gathering process will involve the usage of a Computer-Assisted Personal Interviews (CAPI) instead of the traditional paper and pen data collection, says PSA-Kalinga.

In connection, PSA Kalinga now urges iKalingas to actively participate in the data gathering process and “ provide truthful and complete information in response to census questions, subject to existing laws, rules and regulations” as underscored in the Proclamation 627 dated July 9 by President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.

To recall, the conduct of said census was ordered earlier this year by the president to update existing government database utilized in the selection of beneficiaries in various anti-poverty and social protection programs.
