Raw materials identified as top problem of Kalinga manufacturers

Tabuk City, Kalinga – To discuss major issues and concerns of the homestyles and handicrafts industry in the province, the Department of Trade and Industry – Kalinga organized a Manufacturers Forum this November 26 at TAMPCO Inn and Training Center in which it came out that the top problem relates to raw materials.


During the event, the DTI – Kalinga invited various agencies such as the PENRO, TESDA, DOLE, and DOST to present their development plans and programs for the said industry.


Moreover, the participants in an open forum were given the chance to voice out their concern and issues to proper agencies to address.


“Actually we have problems of raw materials,” – DTI – Kalinga Provincial Director


DTI – Kalinga Provincial Director, Engr. Lino Cungihan during the event expressed that there is a problem with raw materials.


“We invited DENR for the program so that one day dagiay hinanaing tayo, jay hide and seek style of business on the industry should be no more kuman,” he said.


Cungihan added that if a person decides to have a certain business, the raw materials must be assured and readily available, “do you imagine your children, nu ipamanam awan ti source ti raw material tayo, takaw takaw diba?”


He shared that while some portions of the mountains were deforested because of business, the business people should now start planting trees.


“Nu adda iti business permit mo, adda iti ambag mo iti entero nga Pilipinas,” – Gov. Tubban


Meanwhile, Governor Ferdinand Tubban in his message during the event encouraged the homestyles and handicrafts industry to sustain the environment. He as well remind them the importance of securing business permits.


He said that the programs being implemented by the government for the people are being financed by the taxes of the public.


“Isu kayat na saoen, nu adda iti business permit mo, adda iti ambag mo iti entero nga Pilipinas ket kakailyan, ammo yu iti ili tayo nga Kalinga? IRA dependent. Dependent tayo kadagiti taxes,” he said.

Tubban further assured the participants of the Provincial Local Government Unit’s support.


“Be assured of the support of the Provincial Government, the officials of the Provincial Local Government iti endeavor nga kakastoy ket we are looking forward to be your partner with all the different agencies, datayo iti agpapartner,” he said.
