RDC Chair Gov. Bulut Jr. lauds farmers and fisherfolk as heroes of development and sustainability

Luna, Apayao - RDC Chair and Apayao Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr. lauded farmers and fisherfolk and described them as real heroes, underscoring their great contribution to the Philippine economy.

Gov. Bulut made this statement before the turn-over of the Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolks and their families (PAFFF) in CAR during the visit of President Ferdinand Marcos in Luna, Apayao this July 19.

Bulut said "ang ating mga magsaksaka at mangingisda ang ating mga bagong bayani, dahil sila ang tumutulong upang umusbong ang ating ekonomiya," adding that these food producers play a n important role as they provide for our daily sustenance, “…alam natin na ang mga magsasaka at mangingisda ang tunay na bayani ng ating lipunan. Sila ang nagbibigay sa atin ng mga kinakain natin araw-araw,” he said.

Cordillera’s RDC Chair likewise expressed gratitude to the president mentioning the importance of the assistance to the region’s agricultural and aquaculture sectors.

He emphasized that said cash assistance and various government supports will greatly provide help to El Niño affected Farmers across Apayao, and CAR respectively.

The governor likewise mentioned the potential of Cordillera to be the capital source of energy in the whole of Luzon, explaining that Cordillera is rich in water resources that should tapped to realize CAR’s potential as the main source of energy which could supply power to the entire Luzon.

“Mahal naming pangulo, ang Cordillera po ay mayaman sa tubig. Puwedeng - puwede po ang Cordillera lalong-lalo na ang Apayao na isang maging capital ng source ng energy sa buong Luzon.” he added.

To help the national government uplift the lives of farmers, Bulut conveyed the Provincial Government of Apayao is doing its part in providing various interventions and programs to boost, upgrade, and strengthen farmers and fisherfolks through modernization of agricultural technologies as well as widening their knowledge.
