‘Reading of electric meter is from 17-25 of every month’ - KAELCO

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Kalinga-Apayao Electric Cooperative (KAELCO), during the second energy summit held on Tuesday, September 20 at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Hall, Bulanao, Tabuk City, clarified that the reading of electric meters in the province is from 17th to 25th day of every month.

Responding to observations that KAELCO appears to not have definite reading dates, Elvie Joven, KAELCO Finance Manager, said they do have schedules according to areas.

“Every month, adda ti schedule mi idiay bill and actually starts from 17 of the months up to the 25 of the months, so adda ti schedule ti per route ken iti ammok ket nai-post mi iti Facebook page ti KAELCO,” said the Finance Manager.

During the session, Christine Wangdali, the President of Bangko Montañosa, said she noticed that KAELCO has an imprecise schedule of cut-off period in terms of meter readings.

“Going back idiay ayan ti meter reading nga iti napansin ko iti pinag-read da is awan ti uniform nga cut-off period, unlike iti MERALCO nga every 14th day of the month ket diay ti cut-off ti reading da. Kasi adda ti one-time nga experience mi, dakkel unay ti reading and then i-verify mi idiay ayan ti meter ket awan pay diay reading nga diyay,” Wangdali said.

Wangdali further explained the importance of having a proper monthly schedule for meter readings of electricity for households and establishments to be able to precisely monitor the amount of electricity they consume each month.

“Diay exact date so that diay exact consumption mo for a month ket ammom haan nga let’s say inmay kayo ti first week ta uray nu adda diyay range yu ngay ket adda ngay diay day latta, like for instance ket inmay kayo nag-reading after two days or after three days ket agsabalin diay, han mo ma-identify from month-to-month nu apay nga nag-increase kasi adda gayam ti adjustment na. Kasla kuma diay reading yu iti last month ket 33 days, diay reading iti following month ket 29 days, diay reading yu idiay other month ket more or less 30 days,” she explained.

Wangdali requested that the exact date of meter reading should be done like what other electric cooperatives are doing to help consumers keep track of their consumption.

Joven assured that they will check and give feedback regarding the meter reading schedule set by KAELCO if not followed by their personnel. KAELCO also noted the suggestion.
