Rebel killed in a 35-minute gunfight with the military in Pasil, Kalinga

Pasil, Kalinga – A member of the New People’s Army was found dead after more than half an hour gunfight with the military in Bagtayan, Pasil, this November 13.


Based on an initial report, members of the 50th Infantry Battalion were on combat operation when they encountered around 15 rebels said to be led by an unidentified leader of Platoon Guevarra, KLG BAGGAS.


From there, the two groups exchanged fire that lasted for about 35 minutes before the rebels withdrew.

No one was hurt on the side of the army while one was killed on the side of the NPA. Apart from the dead body of the rebel, the authorities also recovered a piece of M16 A1 rifle, 2 magazines, 25rds 5.56mm ammo, a piece of bandolier and transistor radio, and personal belongings.


After the incident, the operating troops were directed to conduct blocking operations while other intel units were assigned to monitor the possible withdrawal routes or areas of the communist terrorist group.
