Remains of OFW who died during flooding in UAE returns home in Cagayan

Updated: May 8

Amulung, Cagayan – The remains of an overseas Filipino worker who died during the heavy flooding in the United Arab Emirates arrived on Sunday morning in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

Grieving family members, along with some officials of Amulung, Cagayan, waited at the airport and accompanied the casualty back home, particularly in Barangay Masical.

Before her remains were ferried back home, the victim was first brought to a funeral parlor for appropriate funeral care.

Her wake is now being held at their residence.

To recall, the Department of Migrant Workers reported in April this year that three Filipinos lost their lives during the widespread flooding in the UAE.

Marjorie Ancheta was among two casualties who died due to suffocation while onboard a car on April 17. The other victim, meanwhile, succumbed to the injuries he got after his car plunged into a sinkhole on the same date.

Ancheta was supposed to take a vacation this September, but sadly, she arrived on an earlier date and is already lifeless.

The OFW worked as a teacher in UAE and was a single mom.

She is survived by her three kids – an eight-year-old and her 1-year-old twins.
