Tabuk City, Kalinga – Land Transportation Office Provincial Chief Jennilyn Angog is warning the public about the alleged acquisition and sale of ‘fake driver’s license’ online.
This came after an individual was seen advertising on a facebook group page on how to acquire and re-sell Non-Professional and Professional Driver’s License.
“Fake ang mga ito,” Angog remarked.
The advertisement which was posted on a buy and sell group page reads: “Looking for driver’s license? PM me for more info. NON PRO, PRO. Thank you for trusting mam & sir. (emoji) OPEN FOR RESELLERS (emoji) PM ME PAG USAPAN NATIN YAN. LEGIT TO LTO MISMO GALING.”
Angog is appealing to netizens to report to authorities individuals who are selling driver’s licenses online, or persons who are offering to arrange requirements for their driver’s license application.
“Driver’s licenses are never for sale. You cannot apply for another person’s driver’s license because applicants are always required to physically appear at an LTO branch before given a legit license,” she expressed.
She reiterated that to be able to acquire a license, an applicant shall undergo a series of process and requirements that also require physical appearance. She said their office does not accept documents from fixers.
“You cannot fake a driving certificate, you cannot fake a medical exam, you cannot fake a simulation exam, you cannot fake a thumb print. All of these requirements, kailangan ikaw mismo ang pupunta, physically. Faking these requirements is also against the law, kahit saang bansa, bawal yan,” she said.
She warned that since these fake requirements did not pass through an LTO branch, it means the driver’s license is bogus.
“Kapag ma-apprehend ka na fake yung license, i-alarm daka then you will not be given a license anymore,” she cautioned.
She advised the public to be wary and should never opt for the easiest way because it will never be easy for them if they get caught carrying a fake driver’s license. Motorists caught driving with a fake driver’s license are subjected to a three thousand peso (P3,000.00) fine and shall be disqualified from being granted a driver’s license, therefore shall no longer be allowed to drive a motor vehicle.
Likewise, persons selling fake driver’s licenses may face charges for falsification of public document, estafa, and violation of the Land Transportation law.
