Retired police shot dead a Barangay lupon in Santiago City, Isabela

Santiago, Isabela - A Barangay Lupon member was killed in a shooting incident that transpired in Santiago City, Isabela on Monday, June 3, 2024.

The victim was identified as Sonny Julian, a resident of Purok 7, Nabbuan, Santiago City.

According to police reports, the victim, along with his two colleagues, was on board a tricycle when a man, who is said to be a retired police officer, shot them.

Julian sustained several gunshot wounds in various parts of his body, mainly near his chest. Meanwhile, one of his companions was injured. The other was able to escape.

A caliber 38 is suspected to be the weapon used by the suspect.

In the initial investigation conducted, it appears that the irrigation dispute between the victim and the suspect is one of the visible causes of the crime.

A hot pursuit operation by Santiago City Police Office- Station 4 is ongoing for the arrest of the suspect.
