Rice farmers in Tanudan received their P5,000 financial assistance

Tanudan, Kalinga – More than four hundred Tanudan rice farmers received their financial assistance from the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund on March 11, 2022.


According to Salvador Balicao, Tanudan Agriculturist II, around 488 rice farmers from Tanudan have travelled to Tabuk City on Friday to get their cash assistance from the Department of Agriculture – Cordillera at the Kalinga Astrodome.

The 488 rice farmers who received the financial assistance are part of the more than 12,000 rice farmers in Kalinga who are covered by the P362 million share of the Cordillera Administrative Region from the excess 2020 rice tariff collection.

It was earlier explained that the beneficiaries who are qualified for the financial assistance are those rice farmers who registered under the Registry System for Basic Sectors before August 11, 2021. Additionally, these farmers have a landholding not higher than 2 hectares.

Until 2024, if the annual tariff collection in the country exceeds P10 billion, a portion of the amount will be given as financial assistance to qualified rice farmers in the country.
