Rider chased for disobedience, caught with a gun

Cagayan, Philippines – A rider who tried to escape the police after being flagged down at a police checkpoint in Barangay Catayuan, Lal-lo, Cagayan was pursued by authorities and later discovered to be driving a stolen motorcycle.


The Cagayan Police Provincial Office reported that the suspect aka Hector, 23 from Maconacon, Isabela passed through the boundary-to-boundary checkpoint in the said barangay on the morning of July 31. When authorities signaled for him to stop for a check, he sped off, prompting the police to chase him with the patrol vehicle.

Failing to get away, he was immediately cornered.

Police found the suspect to be carrying a homemade pistol, 3 pieces of 12-gauge shotgun ammunition, and a transparent plastic bag with suspected dried marijuana placed inside the motorcycle's compartment.


A flash alarm from Quirino Police Station also revealed that the motorcycle was reported stolen on July 23, 2021, from a certain Joel Umipig, 48, from Sta. Lucia, Quirino, Isabela.


The suspect will be facing several charges for violating Republic Act 10883 or the Anti Carnapping Law, RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition, RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and violation of Article 151 or the Revised Penal Code for Disobedience of Lawful Orders of Person in Authority.
