Rider escaped highway robbery in Rizal, Kalinga

Rizal, Kalinga – A rider fortunately survived gun fires by suspected robbers attempting to get his motorcycle, early morning along the national road in Sitio Alibangbang, Liwan West on April 16, 2022.


In a report, Rizal Police Station narrated that the victim was riding his motorcycle when one of two individuals along the road flagged him down.


Sensing the danger, the victim instead accelerated his motorcycle. However, while he was speeding up, he saw one of them pulling out a gun. Reflexes made the rider duck as he heard a gunshot fired in his direction.

The rider reported the incident to the police station, and the perpetrators were later arrested. The suspects were identified as Kent Dalpis and Louie Jett Boy-oten


Suspects robbed a 70-year-old woman before shooting incident


According to the police, Dalpis went to rob a 70-year-old woman while Boy-oten was waiting for him at the intersection where the firing happened.

After leaving the house of the senior citizen he robbed, he went to his companion to leave the place. However, as they were about to escape, they found the rear tire of the motorcycle they were to use deflated.


They decided to get another motorcycle, but the incoming motorist did not stop when he was flagged down. This led to the shooting at the motorist who fortunately was not hit by the bullets.

Dalpis narrated that his companion left him to get another ride and while he was alone, it was then the police arrived and arrested him.


A hot pursuit operation with the Tabuk City Police Station led to the arrest of Boy-oten in Purok 4, Bulanao, Tabuk City.


A case of attempted Homicide has been filed against Boy-oten.

Rizal Chief of Police, Police Captain Ruff Manganip advises the public to be cautious and be more vigilant on the modus operandi of such groups and to immediately report incidents like these to the police station.
