Rider faces 5 charges after being flagged down for not wearing a helmet

Cagayan, Philippines – A rider, who was flagged down for not wearing a helmet at a checkpoint in Gonzaga, now faces five different charges after he was caught red handed violating other laws.


According to Cagayan Police Provincial Office, the suspect identified as alias "Bajong", 29, passed by their anti-criminality checkpoint where the authorities had to stop him for not wearing a standard helmet.


Instead of complying, Bajong tried to escape, but the authorities stopped and arrested him.



In a ‘body search’, the police confiscated a piece of Marlboro box containing alleged Marijuana, a piece of foil with residue of suspected dried Marijuana, a cellophane containing water pipe and 2 pieces glass pipe, a piece of cotton buds stick containing a residue, and a piece of ammunition for cal. 9MM.


Further, the suspect does not have a driver’s license and his motorcycle is not registered.


With this, Bajong is facing violations of Art. 151 of the Revised Penal Code or Resistance and Disobedience to a person in authority, Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, RA 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, RA 10054 or Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009, and RA 4136 or Land Transportation and Traffic Code.
