Rider falls into his death along Kennon Road

Tuba, Benguet - A rider died on the spot while his pillion passenger was injured after the motorcycle they were riding fell straight into a 150-meter cliff along Kennon Road in Tuba, Benguet, on February 26.

 

Tuba PNP identified the casualty as John Nino Alicante, while the injured is Angel Mabitasan. 

 

In an investigation conducted by the Tuba police, the two were on board a Honda motorcycle when they met the tragic accident at around 11:55 a.m. of said day.

 

While they were traveling on Kenon road toward Baguio City, the vehicle suddenly veered into the southbound lane, crashed into a concrete barrier, and fell. 

 

Upon being notified of the incident by concerned citizens, police and medical personnel immediately launched a rescue operation in coordination with officials from Barangay Camp 3 and Barangay Twinpeaks.

 

When authorities arrived at the location, Alicante was found unconscious. When he was examined by the medical team, he was already dead due to severe head injuries. X-ray revealed he sustained a skull fracture and other multiple fractures.

 

Meanwhile, the back rider, Mabitasan, was rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment. Fortunately, she survived the crash and is now recovering at the hospital. 

 

Further investigations are now being conducted by the police to determine the cause of the accident.
