Rider in Isabela crashes into trailer truck, dies in hospital

Luna, Isabela – A motorcyclist died after crashing into a parked trailer truck early morning of Wednesday, August 16, according to police.

Considering the impact of the crash, authorities assumed the rider was moving at a high rate of speed along the national road in Mambabanga, Luna, when it hit a parked trailer truck at 2 AM on said date.

Police said the rider was even ferried to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

He was identified as Leymar Rigos, 27, single, and a resident of Barangay Malasin, Burgos, Isabela.

The parked vehicle, meantime, was driven by a certain Roberto Magbanua Jr., 32, a native of General Santos City.

While driving to deliver farm equipment in Mindanao, Luna police revealed he became drowsy, urging him to park the vehicle on the side of the road to take a nap.

It was further known that he did not install any warning devices before parking the truck and did not open the vehicle’s hazard light.

With the accident that claimed a life caused by his action, he will be facing Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Homicide and Damage to Property.

Meantime, the trailer truck is now in the custody of Luna police station.

Authorities now appeal to motorists to ensure they will not cause any harm to their fellow travelers when parking on the side of the road to avoid similar cases.

To recall, another incident of a motorcyclist hitting a parked car on the road transpired last month in Reina Mercedes.

This claimed the life of a 23-year-old freelance model named by police as MCJhonson Ulidan.
