31-year-old rider killed in Isabela hit-and-run

Alicia, Isabela – A hot pursuit operation was launched by authorities to hunt the delivery truck driver who fled after a collision in Alicia, Isabela that caused the death of a rider.


The incident happened Friday evening, Dec. 02, along the national highway in Barangay Apanay, Alicia.

The report from Alicia Police Station states the driver of the truck tried to overtake a vehicle and did not notice the motorcycle approaching from the opposite lane. This resulted in the crash.


The driver plowed the motorcycle but continued driving instead of stopping to check on the victim's status.


The driver of the motorcycle, identified as Frederico Rico, 31, a freelance employee along with the backrider named Sheila Mae Rodillas, 23, sustained major injuries. Both victims are residents of Barangcuag, Angadanan, Isabela.


When rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment, Rico was pronounced dead on arrival. The female victim, on the other hand, is in critical condition.

The still unidentified driver fled the scene, leaving the delivery truck behind.


Police immediately initiated a follow-up probe and are now in pursuit of the driver responsible for the tragic accident.
