Rider who hit elf truck in Cagayan dies while being treated in hospital

Sta. Teresita, Cagayan – A rider involved in a road accident 11 PM on Tuesday, December 27, along the National Highway in Villa, Sta. Teresita died while being treated in a hospital.

The victim, along with his girlfriend, was earlier reported to have hit woods loaded in an elf truck they were tailing on the said road resulting in the accident.

Due to the heavy rain, the motorcycle rider didn't notice that the elf vehicle suddenly entered the intersection causing them to crash into the rear part of the vehicle.

The casualty was identified by police as Christian Romero Decinal, 25, a resident of Centro 2, Lasam while his companion was named as Karen Tayam of Centro West Sta. Teresita.

The two who came from Gonzaga and were bound to Sta. Theresita, according to authorities, were not wearing helmets when the accident happened.

They were both ferried by the rescue team of the local government unit of Sta. Theresita to APEM Hospital in Gonzaga where the rider died while his girlfriend is still undergoing medication.

Meantime, the driver of the elf involved whose identity is still unknown fled the scene.

Police are still reviewing the CCTV footage they got from the incident scene since the video is blurry and needed to be enhanced.
