Riders tapped to boost tourism in CAR thru Motocaravan

Tabuk City, Kalinga – At least 100 motorcycle riders are on the Cordilleran roads with their bikes in this year’s Tourism Motocaravan and Heritage Discovery of the Department of Tourism - Cordillera.

The event starts June 20 until June 21, covering the Ifugao - Mountain Province - Kalinga routes.

It is one of several activities planned by DOT-CAR this year in a bid to rebuild public confidence on domestic travel.

The caravan aims to aid the tourism industry in the region to bounce back from the negative impacts of COVID-19 pandemic, featuring Cordilleran nature, adventure, culture and heritage sites.

For safer travel during the event, motorcycle riders were required to wear complete riding gear - riding jacket and riding pants (with pads), elbow and knee riding gears for riders without padded jacket and pants, and riding boots or shoes.

Also required are full face helmet, riding gloves and reflectorized vest.

In said event, back-riders were not allowed while the agency limited cargo only to saddlebags or luggage carriers approved by the Department of Trade and Industry.

Other activities of the agency

Apart from the motocaravan, the agency shall conduct assessment of the Mountain Cook-out and Tour Concept Development on June 22-24, 2022 for the Abra-Kalinga Circuit with the goal of establishing a culinary heritage tour circuit in the region.

As the agency is set to produce a new travel ad dubbed "Find Yourself in the Cordilleras” that will showcase new and unique tourism experiences in provinces of the region, a media production team will visit Kalinga this June 22-25.

The project, the agency said, aims to digitally promote the region and strengthen its positioning as a haven for ecological and sustainable tourism activities.
