Riding-in-tandem kill ex-cop in Tuao, Cagayan

Tuao, Cagayan – A former policeman was killed by a riding-in-tandem at the public market in Palca, Tuao, on Thursday, July 13.

The 61-year-old victim was identified by police authorities as Romeo Brillantes, a resident of Purok 3, Bugnay, Tuao.

Based on police accounts, they were patrolling near the area morning of the said date when they heard a series of gunshots, prompting them to investigate.

When they arrived at the crime scene, they saw the victim already lying on the ground.

Police pursued the perpetrators, exchanging fire with them in the process and hitting the gunman who was then the back rider. The two suspects, however, managed to escape by riding their motorcycle through a crowd of people.

The hitman was described to be wearing a wig and a brown jacket. His driver, meantime, was said to be wearing a helmet.

As for the victim, he was rushed right away to the hospital but died while receiving treatment.

Recovered from the crime scene were bullets of caliber 45.

Meanwhile, an in-depth probe is now underway to unmask the suspects’ identities and the motive for the crime.
