Rizal, Kalinga alarmed with rape cases in 1st quarter

Rizal, Kalinga – Rape dominates index crime or crimes against a person and property for the first quarter of 2022 in Rizal. This is according to the data provided by the Rizal Municipal Police Station.

Index crimes are the 8 focus crimes of the Philippine National Police, which include rape, homicide, murder, physical injury, robbery, theft, and carnapping.

While there were zero-index crimes documented for the first quarter of 2021, there were three recorded for the same period this year and all of them were rape cases.

This has raised alarm, but Rizal Police Chief P/CAPT Ruff Manganip mentioned that all the suspects for the three cases were arrested and that they were charged in court.

Among their programs and activities that counter the prevalence of sexual violence in the municipality is the ‘Implan Paniyaw’ of the Rizal PNP and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of Rizal. s and conversations with those who are vulnerable to the crime.

Non-index Crime

As for the non-index crime, the Rizal police documented a decrease in cases for the first quarter of 2022. This is based on the 4 cases recorded this year, which is down by two incidents when compared to the first quarter in 2021.

Based on the data, the crime clearance efficiency is 100% while the crime solution efficiency is 71.42%.
