Rizal, Kalinga held peaceful elections despite being under ‘grave concern’ classification

Rizal, Kalinga – The recently concluded May 2022 poll was generally peaceful and the voting went smoothly eventhough it was classified as area under grave concern, says Philippine National Police Rizal, Kalinga.


Rizal Police Chief, Police Captain Ruff Manganip recounted that the flow of the voting process went smoothly.


He added that the casting of ballots was systematic and that no incident of ballot snatching was reported.


“Nabantayan tayo met nga ustu diay election ket so far, kas makita tayo met ket generally peaceful nga awan a talaga iti nangnangyari idiay Rizal nga uray diay kunak nga aggiginnuyod iti botantes, awan,” Manganip said.

He added that registered voters were able to cast their votes without interruption or intimidation. The only issue occurred last May 9, Manganip recalled, was the malfunctioning of some vote counting machines but they were restored immediately.


The Chief of Police shared that among the factors that contributed to the peaceful election in the Municipality of Rizal was the cooperation of the barangays officials and the tanods who joined law enforcers in ensuring a peaceful and orderly voting.

Meantime, the newly elected set of Rizal, Kalinga leaders include unopposed and incumbent Mayor Karl Bugao Baac and re-elected Vice Mayor Samuel Valdez.


The elected municipal councilors who will be serving the town in the next three years are Jolan Jambaro, Consolacion Catalon, Efraim Orodio, Randy Barroga, Jenny Rose Cadang, Anselmo Bador, Joseph Lumabi, and Renato Vicente.
