Road accidents in Tabuk City, 91% human error


Tabuk City, Kalinga – According to the data of Tabuk City Police Station, 91% of the 126 recorded Vehicular Traffic Accidents (VTA) from January to October this year is due to human error while the remaining 9 % is attributed to road condition.

Human error is categorized into six, and this include bad overtaking, bad turning, fatigue or sleepy, inattentive, too close, and too fast.


Among the categories, inattentiveness is the highest which comprised of 39% of the recorded VTA incidents. Next to inattentiveness is bad turning which is 26% and too fast 20%.


Meanwhile, as to the vehicles involved, 55% of the cases are motorcycle and 25% are private vehicles.


Moreover, from the incidents, 28% of the drivers and riders are under the influenced of liquor.


The data of Tabuk CPS also shows that the month of January has the highest number of road accidents with 22 cases, while the lowest is in April with only 2 cases. As to the time, most incidents happened between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM.


While the number of VTA cases decreased, the Tabuk City Advisory Council is still disturbed by the number of cases and that they conducted an online survey on Facebook to gather the thoughts and opinions of the public regarding the cause and possible solutions to VTAs in the city. From the baseline study, some actions are being undertaken to control the number of accidents in Tabuk.


Meantime, road accidents have already taken 23 lives in the Province of Kalinga from January to November 24, 2020.
