Road crash in Tabuk City leads to discovery of P3.6M Marijuana

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Millions worth of suspected marijuana bricks were discovered following a road accident in Nasgueban, Appas on Sunday, June 23, 2024.

On said date, a black Honda Civic and a Red Honda TMX motorcycle were traversing the road in Nasgueban, with the car heading towards Bulanao while the motorcycle was travelling in the opposite lane.

Upon reaching the place of the incident, the car’s left rear door panel was allegedly sideswiped by the speeding motorcycle. This caused the motorcycle to lose balance and skidded 10 meters away from the point of impact.

As the driver of the Honda Civic was calling for police assistance, the rider fled the scene on foot, running towards Dagupan Centro. The police later discovered the rider ran because of the contraband he was transporting on his motorcycle.

According to the Kalinga police, the authorities, upon inspection of items left by the suspect, found 25 bricks and 3 tubulars of suspected Marijuana inside the carton and bag tied on the motorcycle.

The evidence found was estimated to be worth P3,624,000.

The items recovered were inventoried in front of witnesses before they were taken into police custody. Authorities are now conducting an investigation to trace the suspect.
