Robbery cases in Kalinga TRIPLED from July to September 2024

Tabuk City, Kalinga—Robbery has been one of the pressing concerns in the province recently, with a number of netizens claiming to have lost their belongings to burglars.

 

During the Provincial Peace and Order Council meeting on September 26 at the Provincial Capitol, the Kalinga Police Provincial Office reported that they recorded a total of 58 crime incidents from July – September 2024. This is higher compared to the 48 cases in July – September last year.

 

Of the 58, 22 are index crimes or those that are committed against a person and property such as murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, and carnapping.

 

The data revealed that robbery cases led the list of index crimes for the third quarter with 7 incidents. This is far higher than the 2 recorded for the same period in 2023.

 

Following robbery is rape with 6 incidents which is lower compared to the 9 cases for 3rd quarter last year; 3 cases each for carnapping and physical injury; 2 for murder; and 1 case for theft.

 

Kalinga Police Director, PCol. Gilbert Fati-ig reported during the event that KPPO is working on establishing satellite police stations in Wagud, Pinukpuk, Lacnog and Nambaran, Tabuk City, for quicker police response.

 

Meantime, KPPO Spokesperson, PCapt. Ruff Manganip relayed that among the authorities’ responses in the robbery cases in the province include strengthened police visibility, mobile and foot patrol, and intelligence gathering. He added that the Advisory Support Groups have been empowered to aid the police in the sustenance of peace and order and public safety in Kalinga.
