Robbery, rape top list of Tabuk City focus crimes in Jan. – June 2023

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Among the eight focus crimes in Tabuk City, robbery and rape topped the list in the first 6 months of 2023.

The Philippine National Police observed a drop in crime rate in the country from January to June this year by 10.15%. They likewise noted that the 8 focus crimes or index crimes declined to 18,560 in the first semester of 2023 as compared to the 20,657 accounted for the same period in 2022.

For Tabuk City, there were 34 incidents recorded on index crimes or criminal activities against a person and property from January – June 2022. This is similar to the number of incidents accounted for in the same period last year.

Data from the Tabuk City Police Station further revealed there were 10 incidents each for rape and robbery. These are the highest index crimes monitored, followed by theft with 6, carnapping, 5, and murder, 3.

No cases were accounted for other focus crimes such as homicide and physical injuries.

To sustain peace and order in the city, the Tabuk City police continuously conduct information education campaigns to educate people against crimes and to also raise awareness on how to prevent them. Regular checkpoints and patrolling are likewise being implemented.
