Santa Marcela elderlies get P.2M cash aid

Santa Marcela, Apayao – A total of P275,000 were distributed to more than a hundred of elderlies in Santa Marcela, Apayao on June 17 at the Municipal Hall Compound.

Even with limited Internal Revenue Allotment, the Santa Marcela local government under Mayor Evelyn Martinez’s leadership allotted funding for the cause which was proposed by Councilor Domingo Siloran Jr.

Siloran, in his message, stressed that while the amount is small and could only cover vitamins and milk, it came from the heart of the LGU.

He added that he and the officials of Santa Marcela wanted the senior citizens in the town to enjoy assistance the government can provide even before they became centenarians as not all can reach this age.

Councilor Haydie Tesalona, on the other hand, mentioned that the assistance was approved by the Sangguniang Bayan headed by Vice Mayor Rolly Guiang and Mayor Martinez as this is one of their ways of thanking the elderlies’ contribution.

On her part, Mayor Martinez acknowledged the sacrifices of the older generation in racing their children well and in taking care of them.

“Awan kami nu awan kayo nga nagannak mi. Isu nga salwadan yu iti salun-at yu, agan-annad kayo,” she emphasized.

Likewise, as she appreciated the efforts of these senior citizens in coming to the municipality, she pledged an additional amount from her personal resources to four nonagenarians.

“Daytoy ited iti gobyerno kadakayo, sangkabassit ngem ammu mi nga uray kas-kas anu, uray igatang yu lang iti gatas yu, igatang yu kadagiti vitamins yu tapnu isu pay nga pakaringguran yu ken uray dagiti annak,” she further said.
