Santa Marcela is best performing BHW federation in Cordillera

Santa Marcela, Apayao - The Federation of Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) in Santa Marcela topped the 2023 BHW Performance Based Incentive (PBI) Awards in the Cordillera region.

The BHW Performance-Based Incentive Award is designed to commend and reward barangay health workers for their contributions to the quality delivery of healthcare services in the community.

Essential functions considered for the award include monitoring health status, detecting and solving health problems, identifying and investigating health problems and risks in the community, and informing, educating, and empowering people about health issues.

Beatriz Z. Tagaca, the President of the BHW federation in the municipality, said in her statement that among the top 5 finalists for the search their group was hailed as the top-performing federation in the region during the awarding on Wednesday, November 15, in Baguio City.

This, she added, is through the federation's exemplary execution of the health care system goals within their respective areas of responsibilities.

The Department of Health (DOH) recognized that the health volunteers, who serve on the front lines of the health-care system, are entitled to specific and guaranteed rewards.

As the winner, the federation received P200,000 in the form of programs or projects, bags, trophies, and a projector set.

Tagaca was also recognized as the third placer in the 2023 Outstanding Barangay Health Worker category. She attributes the recognition to the collaborative efforts of her colleagues in the Municipal Health Office (MHO), Provincial DOH Office (PDOHO), and Provincial Health Office (PHO).
