Santa Marcela LGU allots P1.2M support fund for DepEd programs in 2024

Santa Marcela, Apayao - In its continuous pursuit of improving the delivery and quality of basic education in the municipality, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Santa Marcela has allocated P1,249,000 as its counterpart for the programs to be implemented by the Department of Education Apayao this year.

This decision was announced during the first Local School Board (LSB) meeting at Santa Marcela Central School on January 12, 2024.

The Office of the Municipal Mayor clarified that the amount of P549,000, sourced from its School Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE), was intended solely to support DepEd's plans and programs.

Additionally, P700,000 from its Special Education Fund (SEF) was earmarked for the incentives of Local School Board Teachers and to finance the Academic and Sports Competitions for 2024.

The active involvement of the LGU signifies its alignment with the government's goals of achieving accessible and comprehensive basic education aimed at developing learners and contributing to their holistic growth.

Mayor Martinez stated that this commitment will further inspire teachers, who are at the frontline of educational services, to exemplify meaningful and desirable performance in educating their learners.

Considering the impact of this supplementary budget allocation on Santa Marcela District, particularly on the teaching workforce and learners, Mayor Evelyn Martinez, along with the Sangguniang Bayan and involved LGU offices, affirmed an unwavering commitment to bolster the town's educational demands.
