Santa Marcela LGU hoists Philippine Flag at half-mast to honor death of 2 town officials

Santa Marcela, Apayao - The Philippine flag was flown at half-mast two times lately in Santa Marcela LGU to honor and pay tribute to the passing of Punong Barangay Jan Michael A. Valencia of Barangay Nueva on March 3 and SK Chairman F-jay Paragua of Barangay San Carlos on March 10.

Said public servants both have served in the municipality with a legacy of dedicated public service.

Valencia has been in government service since 2013, serving as a barangay Kagawad. He became the Punong Barangay on November 16, 2023, until his death this March. Paragua, on the other hand, became an SK chairman in 2023 until his death this month.

Mayor Evelyn Martinez ordered the lowering of the Philippine Flag as a means for the LGU to give respect to the two public servants for their contributions to their communities, and to express deep sympathy to the bereaved families.

In her statement, Mayor Martinez, on behalf of the LGU, conveyed condolences to the immediate families saying ‘’may they find strength and comfort as they mourn for their loss… their dedication and services rendered will always be remembered.’’
