Santa Marcela LGU is second Local Legislative Awardee 2023 in Cordillera

Santa Marcela, Apayao - Having demonstrated exemplary performance in local legislation, the municipality of Santa Marcela secured second rank in the Local Legislative Award (LLA), the DILG-CAR announced Tuesday, October 10.

With an exceptional overall performance rating of 87.17 percent, Santa Marcela dominated the provincial level for the 4th-6th municipalities category. This paved the way for its qualification for the regional level, where it garnered second place.

On September 25-26, the municipality underwent evaluation by the Regional Award Committee with various criteria to include responsiveness to the legislative agenda, availability of legislative documents, effectiveness of performance of the Sanggunian, efficiency of performance, legislative citations and awards, and capacity development for legislators and staff.

The DILG said the award accords municipal Sanggunians who excel in the enactment of ordinances or resolutions that ultimately contribute to the attainment of desirable socio-economic and environmental outcomes.

The LLA is a program of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL), in partnership with the DILG.

Municipal Mayor Evelyn Martinez, meanwhile, acknowledged the collective efforts of the Sangguniang Bayan which contributed significantly to such a prestigious award.

She conveyed that the award reaffirms the LGU's commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective governance, as well as signifies the diligence and dedication of the legislative body in doing public service.
