Santa Marcela MHO holds World AIDS Day Awareness; various activities conducted

Santa Marcela, Apayao - Santa Marcela MHO, in collaboration with the LGU and Apayao PHO, successfully conducted the town's activity in raising awareness in combating aids as the globe observes World AIDS Day.


During the observance, several contests were held like the HIV Quiz Bee, Malaria Quiz Bee, Digital Poster Making, and Blood Smear.


Winners of the HIV Quiz bee are as follows: first- San Antonio (22points); second- Panay (21points); third- Consuelo (20points). For the Malaria Quiz bee, Barangay San Juan was ranked first with 13 points, Sipa was second with 11 points, and Panay placed third with 10 points.


For the winners in the Digital Poster Making; Jessica Paludipan from Barangay San Antonio clinched first place with 83.3 percent, followed by Emmanuel Armas from San Carlos with 82.1 percent. Arnel Villa Jr. from Marcela settled third with 81.8percent, while Mark Jendel Tandog from San Juan got the consolation prize with 79.9percent.


Moreover, Barangays San Juan, San Antonio, and Panay are the winners of the Malaria Blood Smearing Contest.


During the event, the FNLGHTC and Apayao PHO were recognized for their support to the said program. All barangays in town have also been given a plaque of recognition for their bloodletting efforts which paved the way for Santa Marcela LGU to be conferred the Dugong Bayani Award this year.


MHO Dr. Myolaine C. Hilario, thru a representative, said that the event served as a channel for health personnel to demonstrate solidarity in raising awareness on health services and to encourage them to double their efforts.


Provincial Health Officer II Mark Joleen M. Calban, in his message, thanked the stakeholders and urged the BHWs and other health personnel to cooperate with the advocacy of HIV prevention to safeguard residents.


SAO Oscar T. Ramos, Jr, on behalf of Mayor Evelyn B. Martinez, commended the BHWs in the barangays for doing their roles in the promotion of quality public health. He said BHWs as health workers important players in the program’s success.
