Donning of sash for Dayag ti Apayao 2023 held; official candidates presented

Luna, Apayao – One of the most anticipated events during this year’s Say-am Festival is finally coming as the donning of the sash to 7 official candidates for the ‘Dayao ti Apayao’ was held alongside the festival’s kick off program on February 1.

The trailer for the event was also released following the sashing ceremony.

The pageant has been held off for two years with the pandemic striking the country in 2020.

Following a parade, the beauties were able to wear their sashes, which bear the name of the municipality they are representing and their local chief executives personally putting them on.

Each of the girls then took to the stage later on and shared a glimpse of their ‘pasarela’ walk.

This year’s beauty queen contestants are Jonabee Ascado (Santa Marcela), Kyleen Allag (Calanasan), Edilyn Racasa (Flora), Kristeen Boccang (Conner), Danelyn Buyag (Pudtol), Christine Racacho (Luna) and Jamila Enciso of Kabugao.

Luna, being the title holder in 2020, will have to defend its crown as they bid for a back-to-back win.

On the big night, swimsuit and evening gown rounds as well as the question-and-answer portion will be competed in by the candidates to determine the rightful owner of the most coveted crown.

The coronation night slated for February 12 will be held at BGV Jr. Memorial Sports Center, Poblacion, Luna.
