Say-am Festival's agtri-tourism fair opens in Luna, Apayao

Luna, Apayao – To promote local agriculture products while boosting income of business owners in the province, the provincial government of Apayao during its Say-am Festival initially opened on February 6, 2023 its Apayao Agri-Industrial and Tourism Fair.

The trade fair, which has become an annual event, in time with the celebration of Apayao’s birth month is where local business owners display their products which include dry good merchandise, food products, handicraft, agri-products, loom and furniture.

This year, twenty-eight business owners participated in the event.

Meantime, in said fair, festival booths of the seven municipalities showcasing their town’s agri-products and landscapes depicting their tourism attractions were also erected as each entry vie for the ‘search for best festival booths’ with lots of prizes at stake.

The building of festival booths was made a contested activity to sustain the volume of products.

Gracing the trade fair’s soft opening activity is Governor Elias C. Bulut, Jr. who relayed the provincial government plan of showcasing a grander agri-trade fair in the coming years, with the support of farmers and business owners participating in the activity.

The plan, he said, needs their cooperation as the bulk of products by farmers and manufacturers share the greatest contribution for a bigger trade fair event to push through.

"For this plan to prosper, we encourage our farmers to produce more and come up with more competitive products,” the governor said.

Meantime, the governor pledged to sustain the provincial government’s support they are giving to farmers such as provision of soft loans and promotion of products to other provinces across the country.

Apayaoans and the visiting public may visit the fair at Payanan, San Gregorio, Luna which will have its full opening on February 10.
